Proven Performers On Local Sports Grounds

Who: Ashley Rugby Club

Where: Loburn, North Canterbury

Products: 8x 30000L Xpress Water Tanks

Why: It can get dry in North Canterbury. Very dry. And in drought conditions, it’s not just rural properties that suffer. Local sports grounds are affected as well, and that was certainly the case for the Ashley Rugby Club. The club plays their home games on beautiful Loburn Domain, just out of Rangiora, and although it is a picturesque setting the lack of a reliable water supply meant the sports fields became rock hard and dangerous. Although a private irrigation scheme was in place, the club was unable to get water in when they most needed it.

The team at the Ashley Rugby Club decided to do something about it, and their initiative combined with funding from Waimakariri Council means they now have all the water they need to irrigate their sports fields. It’s all possible thanks to a Promax tank farm.

What: The predicament was a familiar story to Promax as we have years of experience in delivering water-storage solutions in drought-prone regions. In the case of the Ashley Rugby Club and the sports fields at Loburn Domain, the Ashley Rugby Club went big: a new tank farm and field irrigation for the Domain consisting of eight 30,000 litre Xpress water tanks.

We delivered the tanks on time and the Ashley Rugby Club had them up and running within three weeks. This means the club can prepare their fields for the upcoming season with enough water when it is required, even during drought conditions and restrictions. This allows them to grow more grass, which provides for a softer surface and fewer injuries as a result.

It’s a wining start to the season for the Ashley Rugby Club and further proof that a tank farm is a simple and cost-effective way to collect and store water on a large scale.
